Harmony is back with some really cool and quite accurate reissues of the original classics. Unlike many retro style reissues, they really sweated the details. You're not going to find generic pickups, off the shelf hardware or run of the mill appointments on these guitars. They got the little stuff right by offering pickups and hardware on these guitars that is true to the original. When retro guitars got big a few years ago, I was always disappointed to see a cool looking guitars with the same pickups and sound as an Epiphone Les Paul. Even more disappointing, they sounded like Epiphone Les Pauls (not that an Epi sounds bad) completely ignoring the distinctive tone of off brand 60s classic guitars. Not the case here folks. The H62 Artist is an accurate recreation of the original with some nice updates like a truss rod, set neck and better tuners. Along with the famous Espanada, the Artist is the model for fans of big jazz guitars. The semi hollow body is made of laminated flame maple. The top is spruce for warm and woody jazz tone. The maple neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with block inlays. Dual Harmony P-13 single coils (did you know the original P-13s were actually made by Gibson and bought by Harmony?) deliver big time vintage tone. The Teutonic design tailpiece,  wooden bridge and real Kluson Deluxe tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is a gorgeous amber natural and is set off by chrome hardware and tortoise plastic. A really cool guitar for jazz, jump blues, rockabilly or  anything you throw at it!

This Harmony plays and sounds good. It certainly plays better than many 60s originals thanks to a straight neck, good frets and nice action. The pickups deliver vintage P-90 tone. The guitar actually reminds me of a modern take on a 50s P-90 ES-175. Pretty cool. Condition wise, this one is pretty much New Old Stock. Rescued from the show room, it has seen very little use. As nice or nicer than many you would find hanging new in stores. Comes with a gigbag.

This is a fun guitar for not a lot of bucks. You could buy one of the other import jazz boxes for around the same money but you won't get anything nearly as cool.  A really hip guitar for not a lot of bucks.
