G&L's are popular among players for combining great quality with excellent features at a great price. G&L guitars were the brainchild of Leo Fender and George Fullerton and could be considered new and improved versions of their classic designs. Made in the USA to the highest standards of quality. G&L's are evolutionary guitars and really show what Leo would have done had he stayed at Fender. This Skyhawk shows some of Leo's thinking in the 80s and even has some Musicman DNA in the mix. A cool guitar for anyone looking for a Fender alternative. Made sometime between 1984 and 1987. The body is ash for good tone. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features an ebony fingerboard with dot inlays. A trio of G&L Magnetic Field Design single coils dish out powerful but clear tone. A G&L vibrato and sealed tuners keep it all rock solid. The finish is black and is set off by chrome hardware and a matching headstock. The pickguard took a permanent vacation at one point. You should be able to get one from Chandler, Pickguardian or even G&L.  A cool alternative to a Strat!

This G&L has good feel and tone. It plays fine and the action is good. The neck is straight. The pickups sound excellent, delivering clear but powerful G&L tone. Everything works as it should. Condition wise, this one is for a player. It's definitely accumulated some miles over the past 20+ years. Scratches, dents, dings, finish wear, checking. Bar band warrior relic vibe here. Not for the collector crowd. Comes in a beat, beat, beat but still sorta functional hardshell case.

G&L guitars have always impressed me thanks to great playability, excellent features and an excellent price. If you are considering buying a new Fender American Series guitar, you owe it to yourself to check out a G&L. A lot of bang for the buck, especially on the used market.
