Ovation's electric instruments were all but forgotten by many but have been rediscovered by many players as cool instruments for not a lot of cash. Ovation's Storm series included the Tornado, Thunderhead and Typhoon Bass. Cool hollowbody instruments with top notch quality. The bodies for these hollowbody instruments were actually made by Hofner in Germany. The top is spruce while the back and sides are maple. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features an ebony fingerboard with dot inlays. Dual pickups (made by Dearmond according to some sources) dish out killer tones. The tuners have been upgraded to Grover Rotomatics. AN adjustable bridge and trapeze tailpiece keep it rock solid. The finish is classic sunburst and is set off by chrome hardware. A very cool 43 year old instrument for not a lot of cash!

This Ovation plays and sides great. The neck is straight, the action is good and the frets are fine. the pickups sound awesome. The electronics are a little scratchy but will probably clean up fine. A nice instrument. Condition wise, this is a cool vintage piece for a player. It shows normal finish checking and wear. Moderate pick, clearcoat and belt scratches as well as some dents and dings. Missing the little cover for the neck bolts. No big deal. The front of the headstock is a little goopy as visible here. I dunno if someone tried to touch it up. No big deal for a player. Comes in a gigbag.

If you want a hip 60s vibe and don't want to pay big money for a Gibson, Gretsch or Guild, this Ovation would make a cool choice. Hip, Hi Fi 60s tones in a cool looking package. Fairly rare as well.
