A masterpiece of tone as well as design! Mark Campellone hand builds his guitars in his Rhode Island workshop. Each instrument receives the attention that you would expect from a top of the line archtop. His work has garnered him many well deserved accolades comparing him to the best golden age builders. Craftsmanship and materials are all top notch with no expenses spared. Campellone has also mastered the design elements of a great guitar. His instruments have the perfect proportions and tasteful appointments as the classic Gibson, D'Angelico and Epiphone instruments of the jazz age. This Deluxe is a great example of his work. The top is handcarved, fine grain Sitka spruce for great tone and projection. The back and sides are solid figured maple. The top is X braced for incredible tone. The two piece flame maple neck features a bound ebony fingerboard with gorgeous pearl inlays. A floating Kent Armstrong humbucker with ebony cover delivers smooth tone. The floating pickguard features a volume and tone control to shape your sound. A gorgeous art deco styled brass and ebony tailpiece, ebony bridge and keystone button Grover Rotomatics deliver rock solid performance. Beautiful appointments abound. The Venetian cutaway body is multiple bound. The hardware is gold plated. The headstock features a lovely Deluxe inlay. The look is very traditional yet still fresh and new. An amazing achievement in archtop design.

This guitar plays and sounds great. The tone is powerful and loud with great punch and cut. Plugged in, the pickup delivers a smooth and round voice with nice articulation. The neck is a traditional shape and is fairly beefy as compared to many modern guitars. Currently set up with medium gauge round wound strings, it has great feel. The neck is straight, the action is nice and the frets are good. The pickup and electronics work as they should. This guitar has been well taken care of. It shows some light pick and clearcoat scratches as well as some light indents. The gold hardware shows some light fading. A very nice looking example. The original case shows some scuffs and wear and the locking latch won't stay shut. Not a big deal. The case is nice looking as well as protective. The covering is leather like and the interior is a gorgeous crushed velvet. Once you pick it up and feel it's heft, you'll feel safe transporting this one to the gig.

This Campellone is an heirloom instrument. Made to give a lifetime of service, it could well be one of your prized possessions. Campellone makes few instruments. Finding one can be nearly impossible and I've heard of wait times up to 2 years. They are sure to be even more difficult to find and collectible in the future. Here's a nice used one that's ready to go.
