Guild’s Dearmond line has been popular among retro minded players. Discontinued for awhile now, they have steadily held their value or increased in price in recent years. How can you argue with the vibe? Based on the famous Aristocrat/Bluesbird outline, the M-77 offers a great alternative to a Gibson Les Paul or Gretsch Duo Jet. The single cutaway body is agathis (similar to mahogany) and features a maple top. Dearmond reported these bodies were chambered but accounts vary as to how much. Definitely more on the Les Paul side than the Duo Jet realm. The 24.75 inch scale maple neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with block inlays. Dual USA made Dearmond Single Coils deliver classic tone from warm and sweet to nasty and growling. An Adjustomatic bridge, Bigsby style vibrato and sealed tuners round out the hardware. This example is finished in transparent orange, one of the better finishes on this model. A great retro style instrument at a great price.

I’ve had several Dearmonds come through and I'm always happy to offer one for sale. I really love the vibe, value and tone. This example is no exception. Good playability and feel. The pickups have good tone and all electronics work fine. Great bang for the buck. This is a solid used example in VG condition. It has seen some regular use. It shows moderate pick and clearcoat scratches. Moderate belt wear and some dents and dings. Fine for a player. Comes in a sorta cheesy gigbag.

Guild no longer offers the Dearmond line and prices have continued to increase on the used market. Many players have been converted to the great tone, looks and bang for the buck of these great guitars. If you’re considering a Gretsch Pro Jet, Epiphone Les Paul or similar guitar, you owe it to yourself to check out the Dearmond M-77. The quality is as good as if not better than the competition and the pickups are miles and away superior.
