I've had a lot of Flying V's in stock but this is easily one of the coolest. Made in 1981, this one is from the classic metal era. This example has an awesome vintage look all its own. Solid mahogany body for excellent sustain. Solid mahogany neck with a slim taper and a rosewood fingerboard for easy playability. The pickups have been changed to Gibson Burstbuckers. ABR Tuneomatic bridge, Stopbar tailpiece, and Kluson style tuners team up for rock solid performance. The guitar has been refinished in a gorgeous blue that nails the look of the rare Bahama Blue custom color. The finish is checked and has a nice aged look. An amazing looking guitar!
This V has the feel consistent with other Flying Vs of the era. Nice slim neck with good action. The nut is narrow. The frets are dressed low as was popular on Gibsons of the era. The pickups are smooth and powerful. Great for rock and metal. This is a solid used guitar in VG condition as expected for its age. It has been refinished and the finish has checked and looks to have been aged some. Moderate pick, clearcoat, and belt scratches and moderate dents, dings, and chips. Plastic has been replaced. I suspect that there’s a headstock crack repair under the refinish. Comes in a presumably original but very beat Gibson hardshell case.
